A timely and accurate throw-in can easily set up a goal scoring sequence. This iSport lessons video demonstrates a throw-in drill that will help players improve both their accuracy and power when performing a throw-in. You will need two people for this drill, so make sure you have a partner on hand. Start by having two players standing facing each other about ten feet apart. One player performs the throw-ins while the other player acts as a target. The throw-in player performs a throw-in attempting to put the ball right at the feet of the target player. After the first throw-in is performed one player takes a few steps backwards, another throw-in is performed. This is repeated several times, until the throw-in player can no longer accurately reach the target player with the throw-in. The key with this basic drill is to get players used to performing throw-ins at varying distances. More specifically it introduces them to the idea that a harder more powerful throw-in is more difficult to control, than a shorter or softer throw-in. Let's go over what we've covered. Two players stand about ten feet apart. One player makes a throw-in that should land at the feet of the other player. One player backs up a few feet another throw-in is performed. This continues until the player performing the throw-ins can no longer accurately get the ball to the other player.
